43 Rue Monsieur le Prince, 75006 Paris, France

Hotel description

Booking.com

A warm welcome and an enjoyable stay are guaranteed, along with fresh organic croissants, crisp sheets and a flickering open fire.

The Hotel Saint-Paul Rive Gauche is one of Paris' best-kept secrets. Owned by four generations of a Franco-British family, the recently renovated hotel delivers excellent levels of service and levels of attention to detail that sets it above the rest. The result is an effortless combination of Parisian elegance with English comfort.

Bedrooms are available in different sizes and are all quirky and individual in their decor. Some have magnificent fabric wall hangings, tones of which are picked out in the furniture and decor of the rest of the room, others have vintage floral wallpaper, and one even has a hand-drawn mural across one wall. The bathrooms are as immaculate as one would expect, with towel heaters and supplied with L'Occitane en Provence bar of soap. Some rooms enjoy views of the Lycée St Louis, while those at the front of the hotel look out onto the bustling Rue Monsieur le Prince.

With its unbeatable location, Hotel Saint-Paul is certainly a hidden gem for a stay in the Latin quarter.

What we love

  • The hotel was once the residence of the Franciscan monks of the Cordeliers Convent and charming historic details that can be found throughout the hotel, such as the former well in the breakfast room, which once provided fresh water for the entire neighbourhood.
  • The beautiful shared spaces, such as the dining room, which reflect the antiquity of the building, whilst offering modern comforts.
  • The welcoming staff are polite and attentive without being obtrusive.

This is a quaint hotel in the 6th Arr, Latin Quarter of the Paris. I really liked the location, very close to Blvd. Saint. Germain and Blvd Saint Michel, the Luxembourg gardens and the Pantheon. I walked to many places from here. Also, there are lots of restaurants close by and traffic, so you feel very safe at night. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are tastefully done with modern bathrooms. The breakfast was in a small room downstairs that consisted of croissants, bread, yogurts, juice coffee and hot chocolate. I had a very pleasant stay.

Workers are very kind but the services are very restricted and rooms are very small and not very comfortable to be a 4-star hotel. For breakfast, the only choice was pastry with coffee/tea. For dinner, also a single option (Vietnamese menu; small starter, main course and shared dessert for 24€/pers). We made a special request for a room with a bathtub that we had to pay extra for and the bathtub had a screw on purpose to unable filling the tub. Bed very uncomfortable, hard mattress and very thin pillow and a very strong varnish smell in the room. Pretty dissatisfied with the services provided.

I usually don’t write reviews, but this place is amazing and the service and attention is top notch. My daughter was sick, and they helped is by calling a doctor to come see her in our room. Building structure is beautiful with a fine sitting room and an ornate breakfast area downstairs. Close to St Germain des Pres, St Michel and many other key places to get lost in when in Paris.

Absolutely not a 4-star hotel as advertised by Expedia, but an outdated 3-star. Lukewarm welcome by a receptionist not wearing a mask, tiny room with a tiny double bed and a small shower cubicle. Poor value for money.

Such a lovely hotel, great location, very clean, tidy and well presented. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Couldn't have wished for anything better and would highly recommend. We made a booking last minute as our original hotel wasn't suitable. Booked online and arrived within less than the hour to be greeted by 2 lovely ladies on reception who were very helpful and arranged us a room very quickly. The location is fantastic, great bar and restaurants on the same street but only a short walk to a station for tourist attractions and exploring the city further. If we return to Paris we will definitely be staying here again.
